Introduction to Reiki
Reiki is a simple healing technique that is both powerful and gentle. Reiki healing energy can be effective in treating many physical injuries and symptoms whilst having a profoundly positive effect on your general health and well-being. Reiki is excellent for reducing stress and promoting relaxation.
Reiki is the term used to describe the ancient natural healing system which evolved from the research, experience and dedication of Dr. Mikao Usui who lived in Japan during the early part of the twentieth century. After many years of study and meditation he developed this system of healing based on the ancient teachings in Sanskrit. He then spent the rest of his life practising and teaching what has become known as ‘Usui Shiki Ryoho’, The Usui System of Natural Healing.
The Benefits of Reiki
A Reiki treatment is suitable for anyone. It is effective in the treatment of acute injuries and chronic conditions, whether physical or emotional. It is equally beneficial to those whose energy is low or whose mind is burdened by stress.

An hour’s Reiki treatment will promote healing on all levels, re-energising the body, quietening the mind and soothing the spirit.
The Treatment
Receiving a Reiki treatment is a very simple process. The practitioner gently places their hands on or near various parts of the body and the treatment lasts for about an hour. It is not a form of massage as the hands remain still.
When receiving a treatment the client is usually laying down, but treatments can also be given with the client seated. The client remains fully clothed throughout.
During the treatment some people may experience a gentle warmth or tingling coming from the practitioner’s hands, or a deep feeling of relaxation and calmness.
As Reiki is natural healing it does not interfere with any other treatments, therapies or medication. Indeed, it supports and enhances the positive effects of other treatments, whether complementary or orthodox, and can often help in reducing side-effects.
The one hour treatment is given on a one-to-one basis.
There is also a short treatment clinic on a Friday.
